Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that specializes in treating patients with improper positioned teeth and jaws. This department aims to improve occlusion, malaligned teeth & orofacial deformities, improving facial aesthetics Orthodontics is the branch of Science and the art of dentistry which deals with the development and anomalies of the teeth and the jaws that affect oral health, esthetic and mental well being of the person. It also deals with the study and treatment of malocclusions, which may be a result of tooth irregularity, disproportionate jaw relationships during and after the growth is completed. The treatment of misaligned or misplaced teeth and abnormalities of the jaws, require special expertise. Under the direct supervision of the specialists multidisciplinary treatments for those suffering from facial deformity like cleft palate and other patients with special needs are performed in the department.
Beyond the teaching activities the department serves diverse populations of patients, their communities utilizing modern tools like digital x-rays and digital photographs and orthodontic software for   diagnosis and treatment planning. Modern orthodontic techniques including lingual orthodontics and other forms of esthetic braces are available for the patients.
